D1 CZECH CHRISTMAS MASS - J. J. RYBA
Venue: Zlín Congress Centre | Organizer: Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů, o.p.s. |
Czech Chamber Choir and soloists
Conductor: ROMAN VÁLEK
How can we get across to today's youngsters the atmosphere of the early 19th century half-forgotten small Bohemian town in which the Czech composer Jan Jakub Ryba lived, taught, and wrote his music? This is the time to which his most frequently played Christmas piece transports us, presenting for us a stage version of his mass which enables us to be present with the shepherds on their imaginary visit to the new-born baby Jesus in Bethlehem. The singers are soloists from the Prague National Theatre and the Czech Chamber Choir accompanied by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Roman Válek, recognised for his specialist authentic interpretation of period music.
