"The first time I played with this splendid orchestra, it was not yet called the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, and Zlín too was called something else. I never imagined meeting so many remarkable people in your region and the wonderful life my wife and I have here. As for having the opportunity to perform with you in 2022, this was also something that never occurred to me. Thank you all for this wonderful musical experience." Václav Hudeček

June 2022 sees an important milestone in the life of Václav Hudeček, one of the most highly-acclaimed Czech violin virtuosos and a fixed star on the Czech concert platform. His tremendous affection for South Moravia is reflected, for example, in the celebrated Violin Academy that he has been running regularly in Luhačovice since 1997 and has been attended by innumerable exceptionally talented young people for virtually a quarter of a century now.

A native of Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, Václav Hudeček's first contact with the Gottwaldov Philharmonic, as it was known then, dates back to April 1980 when he performed here at a concert in the Workers' Theatre as part of the 5th Talentinum Festival, and that event gave rise to more than four decades of wonderful collaboration that continues to this day.

Our concert in honour of Václav Hudeček features music by Mozart and Dvořák. Taking the stage at the Zlín Congress Centre in addition to Václav Hudeček himself is the viola player Kristina Fialová, singers Lada Bočková and Jiří Brückler, and the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, one of the most highly respected choral groups of our time, directed by Professor Petr Fiala. The gala concert is conducted by the Orchestra's Chief Conductor Robert Kružík.
