BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ PHILHARMONIC COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL FOREIGN TOUR

BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ PHILHARMONIC COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL FOREIGN TOUR

The 21st to 29th June 2025 saw the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic making a high-profile international tour that included three concerts in Austria, Switzerland and Germany performing in the prestigious venues of Vienna’s  Konzerthaus, the Tonhalle in Zurich and, for the first time, the iconic Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Partnering with the Orchestra in these performances  was the world-renowned Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva, winner of Placido Domingo’s Operalia World Opera Competition. Musical direction was by the acclaimed Italian conductor Francesco Ivan Ciampa, a regular collaborator with leading European symphony and opera ensembles..

The programme featured a selection from the opera repertoire including works by Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and other major composers, and all the performances, drawing in over 5,000 music-goers for the three concerts, were exceptionally warmly received by the audiences with thunderous ovations.

"We were greatly honoured to present these concerts in such prestigious venues, which we take as a testament to the artistic level of our orchestra,” said the Orchestra’s Director Tomáš Gregůrek. “The Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic has done itself proud in flying the flag for the city of Zlín, the Zlín Region and Czech musical culture in its broader sense, and the organizers and audiences were generous in their appreciation of the high quality of our performances."

With this successful tour now complete, the Orchestra is already preparing for its upcoming summer concert projects and the start of its 80th anniversary season in September.
