BE ONLINE! SMARTPHONE CONCERT

Civilisation leaves a legacy of destruction caused not only by time, but by man himself. This destruction applies not only to what is tangible, but also to human society and its values. The fault here lies with globalisation, politics, economics, migration, but also with the inability or unwillingness to tackle the problems.
The contemporary French composer Bernard Cavanna has taken several fragments from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and added to the orchestra a modern, completely different and seemingly incompatible element in the shape of a 20-strong smartphone ensemble, who use their artificial sounds and tones to complement and create a dialogue with the orchestra. Since the Geek bagatelles are based on the work of one of the greatest Classical composers, the first half of the concert, too, is given over to a Beethoven work - his Sixth Symphony, the Pastoral.

At the podium is Pavel Šnajdr, conductor of the Janáček Opera Company at the Brno National Theatre.
The Bagatelles are also a chance for the whole audience to make their own smartphones part of the orchestra, and follow the prompts from the podium to help create the sound of the work.
