C7 ON THE WAVE

Tonight's concert - a fusion of pop and classical - promises to be truly unique as the violinist Marco Čaňo and the Cover Paradise band, founded in 2017, present their cover versions of hits by David Guetta, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande, Avicii, Rihanna, Adele, Billie Eilish and Clean Bandit, transforming contemporary pop into inter-generational hits against a professional music backdrop. Their first cover, Symphony, has been viewed on YouTube over 450,000 times around the world, and their debut album, "Cover Paradise", came out in 2018.

Violinist Marco Čaňo, who comes from Moravia, instinctively draws his creative inspiration from Moravian folklore, and it was the gift of a violin as a child that nurtured his yen to make music his life. From the age of 13 he was a regular protégé of Václav Hudeček at his Summer Academy in Luhačovice, since when the violin has been his constant companion. He developed his musical skills playing solo and in street performance as a teenager, and as a student at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts he was already performing on the world's concert stages with the Czech Philharmonic and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. He drew further inspiration from Maestros with a capital M such as Jiří Bělohlávek, Semyon Bychkov, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman at top venues such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and Suntory Hall. For all the splendour and inspiration of those times, he nonetheless sought to blaze a trail of his own, which meant starting from scratch. In addition to the Cover Paradise band, Marco Čaňo also plays in the De Facto string quartet which reached the finals of Germany's Das Supertalent.

Our special guest is Tereza Mašková, winner of SuperStar 2018, who works mainly in the pop and funky styles, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic is conducted by Chuhei Iwasaki, who appears regularly with leading orchestras in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
