he popular writing duo Jaroslav Uhlíř and Zdeněk Svěrák have penned countless songs whose gentle humour has won the hearts of many generations. Among their most notable artistic feats are the musical adaptations of four of the most widely known children's tales (Budulínek, Little Red Riding Hood, O dvanácti měsíčkách and Sleeping Beauty) into small-scale sketches for stage called Operky or Mini-Operas.

These mini-operas were written between 2004 and 2008, and were originally individual features in the "Singing Hour" children's TV programmes, allowing the two to create musical tales with engaging words and tunes. Though intended mainly for children, the pieces are also uplifting for adults and, indeed, are mini-operas for anyone with a sense of humour.

The four "mini-operas" are performed by soloists and the Prague Children's Opera choir accompanied by the Zlín philharmonic orchestra.
