The Watermill Princess
Director Zdenek Troška’s 1994 film of the Czech fairy tale, with live music
"I'm small, but smart!"
It’s the season of Advent as the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra takes grown-ups and youngsters alike to the magical landscapes of South Bohemia’s silvery lakes and dark forests, where the story of the brave young man Jindřich comes to life as he sets out to free a cursed princess. Along the way he happens across the miller's lovely daughter Eliška, good-natured ghosts and the dandy prince who bring humour, tension and a kind fairy-tale ambience to the story.
The Watermill Princess, a charming, poetic and intrinsically Czech children’s tale directed by Zdenek Troška, which has won the hearts of viewers of all generations for more than thirty years, is full of love, magic and unforgettable songs such as Jindřichův sen, Široký, hluboký and Za mě se, panenko, vdej.
Come along and relive this tale, and let yourself be carried away by the story and its beautiful music. This concert, a collaboration with the Soundtrack Poděbrady International Festival of Film Music and Multimedia, promises a magical evening full of nostalgia and true Christmas atmosphere.
