Father Nature and his mischievous sons Pankrác, Servác and Bonifác are having an argument about what is the most important thing in the natural world. Together with the conductor they use his magic wand to conjure up the four elements - Fire, Water, Earth and Air - to help them find the answer. But will Mother Nature have the last word?
Our tale is accompanied by music from great composers like Beethoven, Smetana and Rossini, and by pictures painted by Eva Marková. We will also hear Rostislav Marek, an actor at Zlín's Městské Divadlo, the violinist and singer Jitka Šuranská, and other members of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra.
Michael Roháč is the son of Czech parents living in Canada. He subsequently returned to Europe and the Czech Republic to pursue his studies in conducting, following a number of specialised courses. For seven years he was chief conductor of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně.
