New CD marks Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic's 70th Anniversary

New CD marks Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic's 70th Anniversary

All the composers included on our CD - Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů and Aleš Pavlorek - have an affinity with Moravia and Moravian folk song, and they all composed in the 20th century. Yet while they appear to have a number of elements in common, they are in fact, very different from one another in terms of how they lived and when and where they produced their work. What we sought to achieve in this CD was a broad mix of works which also reflected our sense of homage to the composers whose work features frequently in our performances.

The CD will have a double official launch - firstly at a news conference in Prague, the home of the Prague Spring Festival, with members of the press and the Orchestra. Its second launch takes place in Zlín on 1st October 2015 as part of the festive opening concert of our 70th season, which also marks the start of the Harmonia Moraviae 2015 Festival.
