BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ PHILHARMONIC
This is not the first time that the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic has brought rock music together with the sound of a classical orchestra; recent ventures of this kind have included Rocksymphony with Marta Jandová, Jan Toužimský and Viktor Kozánek. All the leading Czech big beat musicians have played at one time or another with Olympic, which has grown from its beginnings in 1963 into the one-of-a-kind Czech legend that it is today, and recent additions to its long list of successes over the years are the two OSA Czech Performing Rights Society awards to Petr Janda. The song Jasná zpráva has made into the OSA's "gold" treasury, and Petr Janda has been recognised as the best pop songwriter. Olympic made their first appearance with a string orchestra in 1995, resulting in a CD, MC and video called Olympic Unplugged. In 2011 they revived the concept with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in a show that was so successful that it went to a repeat performance.
