PRAGUE CELLO QUARTET

Venue: Zlín Congress Centre  |  Organizer: Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů, o.p.s.  |

Mambo, Tonight, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Mr. Sandman, Libertango

PRAGUE CELLO QUARTET
Petr Špaček, Jan Zemen, Jan Zvěřina, Ivan Vokáč
BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Conductor: Vojtěch Spurný

These four young musicians have more in common than might at first meet the eye. They are all professional cellists who have graduated from the Prague music academy. All of them have also studied music abroad, and taken part many times in prestigious competitions and festivals both in this country and abroad.

Above all, however, they make up the Prague Cello Quartet, an original group quite unique in the Czech Republic. The quartet made its debut in autumn 2006 at the Žofín Palace in Prague, its members gradually forging a repertoire to which each player contributed his favourite music. That is one of the reasons that the Quartet's range of music includes work by classical composers, jazz, hits by the world's top modern bands, and music from the world of film - all arranged for four cellos and symphony orchestra. We will hear such timeless numbers as Mr Sandman, Could We Start Again Please, Gabriel´s Oboe, and more
