In late November we welcome to Zlín the top-ranking KBS Symphony Orchestra from Seoul, South Korea. This acclaimed orchestra is one of the longest established in South Korea dating back to the founding in 1956 of the Korean Broadcasting System (hence KBS), the public-sector radio and TV broadcaster in the South. In terms of artistic excellence the Orchestra ranks among the best in Asia, and has performed at the world's most prestigious concert venues with the most celebrated musicians, establishing its outstanding reputation over more than 60 years.

Tonight's concert, which opens with Antonín Dvořák's 'Carnival' orchestral overture and closes with Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, also features Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto - one of the most beautiful and technically demanding concertos of its kind. The piece, much loved even today primarily for its enchanting romantic motifs, is played by the young South Korean pianist Yekwon Sunwoo who has already had notable career success, among his many international competition awards being the top prize at the renowned Van Cliburn piano competition in 2017, one of the world's most highly regarded competitions of its kind.
The concert is conducted by the Israeli maestro and the KBS Symphony Orchestra's Chief Conductor since 2014, Yoel Levi.
