Our Subscription Series C concert in March is a glittering event, with the tenor Petr Nekoranec, by far the most remarkable exponent of the rising generation of Czech singers, making his first visit to Zlín. This exceptionally talented artist, though still only 27, is in great demand as a performer, as witnessed by his constant engagements with the most prestigious opera houses and symphony orchestras. In 2016 he took part in the noted Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the New York Metropolitan Opera - the first Czech to be accepted on this major two-year project. Previously he had a successful tenure with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and since September last year he has been a soloist with the Stuttgart Opera. Among his large number of performance awards are his outright victory in the Francesc Viñas International competition at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, second prize at the Concours International de Chant in Toulouse - one of the world's most challenging singing competitions, and reaching the semifinals at the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo.

Last January saw Petr Nekoranec winning another prestigious accolade - the Classic Prague Awards in the category Talent of the Year 2017.

Sharing the stage with Petr Nekoranec at the Congress Centre is another remarkably talented Czech singer, the soprano Lada Bočková. The programme with its appealing selection from the operas of Georges Bizet, Gaetano Donizetti, Charles Gounod, Ambroise Thomas and others is conducted by Martin Leginus, resident conductor at the Slovak National Theatre.
