Slávka Vernerová-Pěchočová, piano

For this piano recital Slávka Vernerová-Pěchočová has chosen a number of pieces that never fail to appeal. In the first half we hear works by the Czech composers Janáček, Dvořák and Smetana, while the second half features a more international selection of Brahms, Chopin and Debussy. Our pianist tonight, a laureate of a number of prestigious international competitions, is highly regarded and much in demand. She has played a number of concerts at the Prague Spring international festival and has an impressive performance record with Czech and international symphony orchestras, among the most notable being her appearance with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at London's Royal Albert Hall in the 2009 Proms. No less noteworthy are her regular solo recitals almost all over the world, for example at the Prague Symphony Orchestra's World Piano Music festival, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Concert Series in Osaka, and at Music and Beyond in Ottawa. Slávka Vernerová-Pěchočová also plays chamber music and performs with her husband in the Spring Duo, and both are founder members of the Dvořák Piano Quartet. A native of Dvůr Králové nad Labem, her exceptional performing skills are in great demand by leading instrumentalists and ensembles on the Czech musical scene.
